(Hmmmmm.....I guess I'll try this again, since Safari "quit unexpectedly" and then had problems uploading what I selected.)
On Sunday I worked a good deal of time on a memorial video of my Dad. I'd never used iMovie on my Mac before. Quite interesting. I think I did a nice job. What do you think?
Okay, as for the rest of the summer (since it's actually the 1st of September!!), things were pretty uneventful. Except for the ongoing saga of my car. I have NOT had it since the beginning of May. But maybe, just maybe, I'll get it back REAL soon! Like in under two weeks. Woohoo!!!

Missed the big birthday and a new layout...
You can NOT imagine how sad I was that I had to miss Hailey's birthday party yesterday!!! I mean, it was her first birthday!! All day Saturday I had this sandpaper-scratchy throat, but wasn't thinking it was too bad. So I went through the day know that I had to prepare veggie trays for the party. I went to the store, got the supplies, and cut up veggies all night!! Well, not all night, but I got to bed around 2am. So I wake up around 8 and realize my throat is horrible! All I can think is that I have strep and I can't give it to Hailey-boo!!! Or anyone else!! So I call Katie, wake her up, and lament about this. We talked about our options and decided I would bring all the cup-up veggies and stuff over to her house. At least I would get to see Hailey!! And I did that. It was tough not being able to touch anyone!!
So I went to the doctor this morning. The PA said I didn't have strep throat, according to the swab of my throat that was taken. She said it was probably viral and would just run its course. But she did prescribe an antibiotic. I asked if it was going to make any difference since it was viral. Then I mentioned the white stuff that I had seen in my throat. She looked again and saw it, kind of far down on the sides. She mentioned my small tonsils - hmmmmm. I hope that doesn't mean that I have strep! Either way, I'm taking antibiotics. And I stayed home from work so as not to give it to anyone in this early stage, and to let the antibiotics do their job at the beginning stages. I think this is my second full sick day this year! Highly unusual for me!!
But I did finish a layout last night. This one used Royanna Fritschmann's Our Love Grows kit. How do you like it?

That's my mom and her siblings some 40 years ago!! I love the way they look all together like this. Isn't family great?

Look What I'm Doing!
I was sick on Sunday and didn't got to work on Monday because of it. Definitely needed to stay close to quarters!!! But I was able to finish a layout later in the day. This one is for the Template Challenge at Digital Designer's Den. I don't think they've been up very long - just getting started. The template was simple, with lots of possibilities. And I used the chrome-finish one. Of course my subject was the wonderful Hailey (big surprise!!!)!

Love it? I do! I loved the kit I used - Mistica Designs' Fairy's Dreams. The tealish color went beautifully with Hailey's outfit. And the floral look pulled out the flowers on Hailey's outfit too.

Life is tough...
Katie called me this morning and asked if I could take tomorrow off so I could watch Hailey. It has been a tough week for them. They've all been sick. Hailey started it then passed it along to Mommy and Daddy. But Katie's started her new position at work this week and then has had to miss all this work either being sick herself or needing to stay with Hailey because she couldn't go back to daycare. So.....what do I do? Miss work.....or.....take care of Hailey-Boo.......... Tough call? Nahhhhh!!!

Memories are Like a Garden Carried in the Heart...
Yay! I finished my layout using Royanna Fritschmann's contribution to the Charity Collaboration for Heart & Organ Donor Programs, Have a Heart!

It's about my dad. I have several photos through the years, including one before I was born. That one was taken the year after he and my mom were married. The photo with the full beard was taken in 1967, during the time that Mott was celebrating its 60th anniversary. All the men in town were growing these beards. Dad's was great!! I'm not sure, but I think he won! The one where he's wearing fatigues is such a common memory of my dad. He worked in the armory in town for pretty much all of my memories growing up (while I was still home). The beautiful couple shot was taken for Mom & Dad's 50th anniversary. Then the top photo was taken at the open house for their 60th anniversary. Mom is holding my beautiful granddaughter, Hailey. Dad is holding Steve & Pat's grandson, Jason.
I loved how the heart flowers from Royanna's kit were the garden from the quote, and the photos are kinda coming out of it. I'm pleased!

Movie night....
It was definitely a girls night last night as we gathered up the snacks and watched Adventures in Babysitting (one of my favorites!!). We had a blast watching it. Caryn had never seen it before -- she said. But as we watched it she seemed to remember the scene where the group is walking on the rafters trying to get out of the chop shop. But she was pretty young then. But I have watched it lots of times, with my kids, so everything was familiar to me!! Haaa!
And to what do I owe the watching of last night's movie to? Clean up after vespers last night. I was wiping off the counter with a sponge and told Caryn that just doing that reminded me of a movie. And of course it's the point in the movie where everyone is back at the house after the long night and Chris is quickly cleaning up the kitchen. She sprays the counter with a cleaner and wipes it quickly. Then of course runs to the living room and jumps over the couch - grabbing a magazine to make it look like she'd been there all the time. And I invited Caryn over to see this great movie. Then I mentioned to Rhonda that we were leaving to watch it and she came over too!! And even though I missed the scene with the chop shop guys at the end because I was dozing off (my usual movie watching habit!!), I still saw the great after-credits scene. I told Caryn that that scene is why I watch movie credits to the end. You never know what you'll miss!! Yup, a great night!
And then Caryn sent me a message this morning about finding Keith Coogan's blog online because she searched out his name. Small world!
