First-time YouTuber!

(Hmmmmm.....I guess I'll try this again, since Safari "quit unexpectedly" and then had problems uploading what I selected.)

On Sunday I worked a good deal of time on a memorial video of my Dad. I'd never used iMovie on my Mac before. Quite interesting. I think I did a nice job. What do you think?

Okay, as for the rest of the summer (since it's actually the 1st of September!!), things were pretty uneventful. Except for the ongoing saga of my car. I have NOT had it since the beginning of May. But maybe, just maybe, I'll get it back REAL soon! Like in under two weeks. Woohoo!!!

Missed the big birthday and a new layout...

You can NOT imagine how sad I was that I had to miss Hailey's birthday party yesterday!!! I mean, it was her first birthday!! All day Saturday I had this sandpaper-scratchy throat, but wasn't thinking it was too bad. So I went through the day know that I had to prepare veggie trays for the party. I went to the store, got the supplies, and cut up veggies all night!! Well, not all night, but I got to bed around 2am. So I wake up around 8 and realize my throat is horrible! All I can think is that I have strep and I can't give it to Hailey-boo!!! Or anyone else!! So I call Katie, wake her up, and lament about this. We talked about our options and decided I would bring all the cup-up veggies and stuff over to her house. At least I would get to see Hailey!! And I did that. It was tough not being able to touch anyone!!

So I went to the doctor this morning. The PA said I didn't have strep throat, according to the swab of my throat that was taken. She said it was probably viral and would just run its course. But she did prescribe an antibiotic. I asked if it was going to make any difference since it was viral. Then I mentioned the white stuff that I had seen in my throat. She looked again and saw it, kind of far down on the sides. She mentioned my small tonsils - hmmmmm. I hope that doesn't mean that I have strep! Either way, I'm taking antibiotics. And I stayed home from work so as not to give it to anyone in this early stage, and to let the antibiotics do their job at the beginning stages. I think this is my second full sick day this year! Highly unusual for me!!

But I did finish a layout last night. This one used Royanna Fritschmann's Our Love Grows kit. How do you like it?

That's my mom and her siblings some 40 years ago!! I love the way they look all together like this. Isn't family great?

Look What I'm Doing!

I was sick on Sunday and didn't got to work on Monday because of it. Definitely needed to stay close to quarters!!! But I was able to finish a layout later in the day. This one is for the Template Challenge at Digital Designer's Den. I don't think they've been up very long - just getting started. The template was simple, with lots of possibilities. And I used the chrome-finish one. Of course my subject was the wonderful Hailey (big surprise!!!)!

Love it? I do! I loved the kit I used - Mistica Designs' Fairy's Dreams. The tealish color went beautifully with Hailey's outfit. And the floral look pulled out the flowers on Hailey's outfit too.

Life is tough...

Katie called me this morning and asked if I could take tomorrow off so I could watch Hailey. It has been a tough week for them. They've all been sick. Hailey started it then passed it along to Mommy and Daddy. But Katie's started her new position at work this week and then has had to miss all this work either being sick herself or needing to stay with Hailey because she couldn't go back to daycare. So.....what do I do? Miss work.....or.....take care of Hailey-Boo.......... Tough call? Nahhhhh!!!

Memories are Like a Garden Carried in the Heart...

Yay! I finished my layout using Royanna Fritschmann's contribution to the Charity Collaboration for Heart & Organ Donor Programs, Have a Heart!

It's about my dad. I have several photos through the years, including one before I was born. That one was taken the year after he and my mom were married. The photo with the full beard was taken in 1967, during the time that Mott was celebrating its 60th anniversary. All the men in town were growing these beards. Dad's was great!! I'm not sure, but I think he won! The one where he's wearing fatigues is such a common memory of my dad. He worked in the armory in town for pretty much all of my memories growing up (while I was still home). The beautiful couple shot was taken for Mom & Dad's 50th anniversary. Then the top photo was taken at the open house for their 60th anniversary. Mom is holding my beautiful granddaughter, Hailey. Dad is holding Steve & Pat's grandson, Jason.

I loved how the heart flowers from Royanna's kit were the garden from the quote, and the photos are kinda coming out of it. I'm pleased!

Movie night....

It was definitely a girls night last night as we gathered up the snacks and watched Adventures in Babysitting (one of my favorites!!). We had a blast watching it. Caryn had never seen it before -- she said. But as we watched it she seemed to remember the scene where the group is walking on the rafters trying to get out of the chop shop. But she was pretty young then. But I have watched it lots of times, with my kids, so everything was familiar to me!! Haaa!

And to what do I owe the watching of last night's movie to? Clean up after vespers last night. I was wiping off the counter with a sponge and told Caryn that just doing that reminded me of a movie. And of course it's the point in the movie where everyone is back at the house after the long night and Chris is quickly cleaning up the kitchen. She sprays the counter with a cleaner and wipes it quickly. Then of course runs to the living room and jumps over the couch - grabbing a magazine to make it look like she'd been there all the time. And I invited Caryn over to see this great movie. Then I mentioned to Rhonda that we were leaving to watch it and she came over too!! And even though I missed the scene with the chop shop guys at the end because I was dozing off (my usual movie watching habit!!), I still saw the great after-credits scene. I told Caryn that that scene is why I watch movie credits to the end. You never know what you'll miss!! Yup, a great night!

And then Caryn sent me a message this morning about finding Keith Coogan's blog online because she searched out his name. Small world!

Too Sweet layout...

Yay! Here's my final layout for the Gotta Pixel creative team contest. This one needed to use Laura Burger's Sweet Couture kit. So pretty! And here is Too Sweet...

I definitely kept it pretty simple - the focus was on Hailey-boo!

NEW Creative Team!!!

Woohoo!!! I have been accepted to be on Royanna Fritschmann's new creative team, the Posh Princesses. I've always loved Royanna's creations on Divine Digital. And I think this will be a better fit for me than the last creative team I was on. Wish me luck!!!

Trying for another creative team...

I got an e-mail today asking for people to apply for Layout Artists on the Posh Princesses Creative Team with Royanna Fritschmann. I love Royanna's stuff! I always love her Daily Download contributions. Even her previews are beautiful!!

So I e-mailed Royanna a short bio and links to 3 galleries I frequent. We'll see!!!

Oh, and the last layout for the Gotta PIxel creative team contest is something I will be working on this week.

Left the team...

I'm sorry to say I made the decision to leave the Paradise 4 Scrappers Creative Team. It was a tough decision for me. I sure wish them well!

Lost is found!!

Yes!!!! Lost finally comes back tonight! I just hate the long time they make you wait for anything anymore! But the new season is finally here.

It will be interesting to see what happens tonight. We've heard so many things. People going back to the island. But they ALL have to go, and some don't want to. Gotta wait and see!

Oh, and last night Fringe came back too. That is one different show. A little X-Files, a little crime drama. But I'm enjoying it.

The characters are done very well. There's so much we still don't understand, but that's the way TV is! You should check it out. It's on Fox.

Hailey's the star!

Wow! Another layout for the Gotta Pixel team contest. This challenge required us to make a layout with lots of white space. Boy, that's tough for me. I always feel the need to fill up the space! So this was definitely a challenge! And here it is...

I'm sure surprised I've been getting a lot of scrapping done! Kinda nice.

How's this for a "logo"

I worked on a little look for a logo. Pretty basic, but I like the elegance of the look...

Of course it has to be in blue (you know, my favorite color!). What do you think?

My first layout as part of the P4S creative team!

Here it is...

Doesn't it have a nice old-fashioned look? I used Antique Lace by Swheat Creations at Paradise 4 Scrappers. What a great kit for heritage layouts. Great colors & embellishments.

I like the way it all looks. Pretty pleased!

Dotty Love minikit...

I finished a minikit that would be nice for Valentine's Day. And hey, it's called Dotty Love. Wanna see it?

Since I'm not on the design team for Paradise 4 Scrappers I thought I'd give it away as a freebie. Just not sure how to do it. Hmmmmm.

UPDATE! I've been chatting with Michelle at P4S. My little kit is going to be added as a freebie minikit under my designer name (yeah, designer name!!!) Sheila's Scraps. This is pretty cool! Ya never know - down the road I might even be selling stuff!

The Hands Have It...

I finished a layout for a contest on Gotta Pixel. It needed to be about me, use only a particular kit (Cozy Kind of Love), and include these four sentence beginnings in your journaling:

I love to scrapbook because...
The quirkiest thing about me is...
My friends say that I am...
When I grow up, I want to...

AND any photos you used couldn't show your head. Now this was tough!

So I ended up taking pictures of my hand (of course only ONE hand because I had to take the picture with the other one!). I showed different things my hand did. And I'm wanting to put my best foot forward because at the end of this contest (you're supposed to get four challenges to show your "worth" but I missed the first one) someone would be picked to be on their creative team.

Okay, here's what I came up with...

What do you think? I liked the variety of hand photos.

All right Tony!

Anyone not following 24 will not GET this......

Tony is NOT a bad guy!!! Woohoo!! I was so glad to find that out. Tony was always one of my favorite characters on 24. The four-hour premier was VERY good. So nice to get back into the swing of Jack Bauer!

Jack is Back!!!

Okay, did you watch 24 last night? It's amazing how you can get back into the swing of Jack so quickly! Even thought I didn't get to watch it at its original time (church business meeting!), I did record it and watch it later. So I didn't get finished until around 12:30am. But it was SO worth it! AND the second part is tonight! Woohoo!!!

January Blah layout...

I worked on this layout today. I got a little freebie in a newsletter today and wanted to use it. But I didn't have a photo that seemed to work. So I opened the back door and got the snow on the back deck. Hey it works! Thanks to Kathryn Estry and her Fresh Start Extras. I also used Atomic Cupcake's Sparkle Effect. Don't you think it has a blah look? ;-)

I really liked the blues in the kit. I don't know if a sunny snow day would have been as blah!!

Blinkie?

I worked a LONG time on this little blinkie. Really hoping it works. It probably needs some tweaking, but I think my first attempt at creating one from scratch is not too bad!

Home sick...

I woke up this morning and just could NOT get out of bed. I called Melissa's number at the office to tell her I wouldn't be in. So I went back to sleep, waking up a few times. I got a call from Joy at work at 11 something wondering if I was okay. Oh oh, I thought. Didn't Melissa come to work either? So I asked Joy that. Nope, Melissa was home sick too. Haaa!!! Nobody missed me until then? So it was a crappy day at home. I did get plenty of rest though.

I worked on getting my blog more personalized. I created two backgrounds for a snow theme. The blue background just uses a snowflake brush, but it's really nice (cuz I just love the blue!!). The middle part is just a white background using Atomic Cupcake's crumpled effect. Kinds looks like snow though! Then came the header. That took a little more time. But I like it. Trying to get it all into the template took forever!!! Once I figured out what worked best it finally got finished. Looks nice. The Photobucket slideshow of my layouts at the bottom seemed the only place I could put it. I couldn't figure out how to put it on the sides and fit. It would only fit well at the bottom. So there it is! And here's my new blog look!!! Woohoo!!

On a Creative Team!!!

Woohoo!! I've just been accepted as a member of the creative team for Paradise 4 Scrappers!!! I'm very excited about this opportunity to expand my creativity! Watch for news on what I'm able to create for them!!

Now I'll have to figure out how to really use this blog! Is that blinkie cute or what? Got it figured out!

Bad, bad blogger!!

I can't believe how bad I am at this!! Of course I'm only doing this for myself since nobody reads it but me!! LOL!

I wanted to share some pages I made for the Digital Craft Cottage 1-09 Quickpage Exchange. It used a great little kit by Roxi, Take Heart. I was a little hesitant to show my pages on their site. All the pages I was seeing were great! My creativity is so.....me! But I still like to make them and share them! Here are previews of the four pages that I made. Three of them are 12 x 12 and one is 8.5 x 11. A little variety!

What do you think?
